Taylorsville Lake to close this week for prescribed fire project | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Taylorsville Lake will be closed for a prescribed fire project this week, according to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

Taylorsville Lake Wildlife Management Area will be closed for two days between Oct. 28-31 for a prescribed fire project as part of ongoing hardwood forest improvements on the property. The burns will be conducted when weather conditions are optimal.

According to a news release Monday, burns are planned on a 1,600-acre section of the Briar Ridge unit of the lake south of KY 3228 on the first day of the closure. The second day will have evaluation to ensure all fires are out.

Taylorsville Lake won’t be accessible via KY 3228 if traveling west from KY 248 during that time. The shooting range will also be closed on the day of the burn project.
