Target shopper blasts new self-checkout policy with workers counting items in carts’ – it’s driven her to Walmart [Video]

TARGET’S rivals are benefitting from its new self-checkout policy as shoppers beg the retailer to listen to their simple solution.

Earlier this year, Target announced the rollout of an “enhanced self-checkout experience” across its 2,000 stores.

This new and “convenient” shopping experience saw the introduction of express self-checkouts in March.

Under the rollout, Target’s self-checkouts were restricted to those with 10 items or less.

Shoppers who go over the item limit are subsequently forced to visit a manned checkout.

While Target has said that the move makes checkout more efficient, there has been backlash from shoppers.

Many have complained about long lines as five-minute trips “turn into 25 minutes” …
