Syracuse Journalism Lab launches to empower, train next generation of media (video)

A new program aimed at training the next generation of journalists completed its first class of graduates at ITC, the Institute of Technology at Syracuse Central.

The Syracuse Journalism Lab launched in September 2021 to prepare young people for careers in journalism and media. The Lab’s first class graduated on Friday at the Salt City Market.

The program’s long-term goal is to expand diversity of those who work in local newsrooms, by increasing the pool of talented journalists from Syracuse to hire in the future.

The Journalism Lab is a collaborative effort by the Syracuse Press Club, The Stand Newspaper and Syracuse City School District. The Lab was funded by a grant from the John Ben Snow Foundation. The Stand served as the Lab’s fiscal sponsor and Advance Media New York …
