Suspect accused in teens murder will be held behind bars [Video]

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the three people arrested in connection to the shooting death of a teen who’s body was found on the Pajarito Mesa will stay behind bars while awaiting trial.

18-year-old Daniel Medrano Garcia is facing multiple charges, including first degree murder. Garcia, along with 17-year-old Dominik Marquez and 18-year-old Mariana Gomez are accused of planning to rob 16-year-old Jesus Quintana Cota. According to a criminal complaint, the three kidnapped Cota, shot him and left his body on the Pajarito Mesa. Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies found Cota’s body on the mesa in May, 2024.

The state filed for pretrial detention based on the violent nature of the crime. Judge Joseph Montano granted the state’s motion.
