EVENT IN PORTLAND TODAY. IT CAN BE INCAPACITATING AND YOU CAN FEEL VERY ALONE, AND YOU JUST DON’T KNOW WHO TO TALK TO. THE AMERICAN FOUNDATION FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION IS WORKING TO PROVIDE CONNECTION, UNDERSTANDING AND HOPE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY SUICIDE. THE REASON THAT WE DO THIS IS TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR LOSS, SIMILAR IN SOME WAY, BUT EACH LOSS BEING UNIQUE IN ITS OWN WAY. ALSO, THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED THEIR ANNUAL SURVIVORS OF SUICIDE LOSS DAY OBSERVANCE AT THE CENTER FOR GRIEVING CHILDREN IN PORTLAND. THE EVENT ACTED AS A PRIVATE FORUM FOR SURVIVORS TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES. EACH WERE GIVEN BEADED NECKLACES TO MARK THEIR SPECIFIC LOSS OR CONNECTION TO SUICIDE AWARENESS. WE HAD ALMOST 30 PEOPLE ATTEND TODAY. OVER HALF. IT WAS THEIR FIRST TIME ATTENDING ONE OF THESE EVENTS AND THEIR LOSS. LOSSES RANGED FROM LOSS OF A CHILD, LOSS …
