Surgeon General urges action to combat caregiver burnout [Video]

The U.S. Surgeon General has declared that reducing stress and burnout among caregivers is now a public health priority. Dr. Vivek Murthy, the nation’s top doctor, emphasized that the growing pressures faced by parents and caregivers are not just personal challenges but broader societal issues that require immediate attention.”The joys are indeed abundant, but as fulfilling as parenting has been, the truth is it has also been more stressful than any job I’ve had,” Murthy wrote in a New York Times Opinion Essay. “So many parents I encounter as I travel across America tell me they have the same experience: They feel lucky to be raising kids, but they are struggling, often in silence and alone.””It’s time to recognize they constitute a serious public health concern for our country,” Murthy wrote.
