Surf City announces end of live concert series [Video]

SURF CITY, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Surf City announced Friday that its concert series Surf City Live will not be happening this year.

“The last two years, national acts have come to Surf City and put on unforgettable experiences for all that were in attendance. The Town hosting a ticketed event at this scale is no small feat, and the operations were to the standard that we all expect from our Town. Overwhelmingly, the feedback from those that attended was positive,” a town announcement states.

However, the town says that there were concerns over funding, sponsorship and the involvement of town staff.

“At this time, the Surf City Town Manager, Kyle Breuer believes it is in the best interest of the Town to not move forward with the 2024 event and focus on additional tourism-related opportunities for our shoulder seasons,” the announcement continues.
