Families of Omaha Northwest High School students descended on the school grounds within minutes of reports of a shooting.
Some heard the news from social media or the traditional media. Others saw a vague alert sent out by the school district at 12:30 p.m., reporting that the school was “currently in lockdown due to reports of a situation in the building.” Many received tearful phone calls from their children or text messages saying, ‘I love you.’
