Student led group raises funds and resources for eastern Iowa schools [Video]

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – At her own elementary school, Amal Eltayib saw a lack of resources for students.

”A lot of other people at the Golden Beaker and in the community attended Title One or low-income schools. So growing up you kind of got to see how that affected students and how that affected their education,” Eltayib said.

Her experience inspired her and a group of friends to start their own student-led organization, the Golden Beaker.

”The Golden Beaker really strives to help disadvantaged students as well as teachers who don’t have access to school supplies, STEM education, and things like that and we try to do what we can to contact the schools and see what they need and provide that for them,” Eltayib said.
