Student and teacher information exposed in PowerSchool software cyber attack [Video]

AGAWAM, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – In developing news, PowerSchool, a popular platform for school districts to keep track of student records and communication with families, has been hit by a cyber attack.

According to the platform, the potential cybersecurity incident involved unauthorized access to student and teacher information.

Sources say the information exposed was primarily contact information, like names and addresses, but some districts may have included social security numbers, medical information, and more personally identifiable information in their data.

This cyber attack is being felt close to home as well, with several school districts in our area relying on PowerSchool as part of their daily operations.

Parents in the Agawam school district received a letter on Wednesday evening discussing the breach, saying in part:
