HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Stop & Shop supermarkets across the state have bare shelves due to a cybersecurity issue.

“A lot of the shelves were empty, a lot of staples too,” Hamden resident Michael Montefusco said.

Major grocery store chain raising starting pay to $23 an hour

Shelf after shelf was bare, causing customers like Montefusco to cut his grocery list short.

“Kleenex, tinfoil, eggs and cottage cheese, that’s it,” Montefusco said. “I had a much larger grocery list.”

Stop & Shop’s parent company, Ahold Delhaize, said that last Friday, they were made aware of a cybersecurity issue in their U.S. network that impacted truck shipments.

They said, “Customers may see more limited inventory than usual for certain products. Stop & Shop is committed to serving our customers, and we are taking steps to ensure our stores are stocked for our shoppers in the coming days.”

The supermarket chain is investigating to prevent future issues.
