MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Five local leaders shared insight into public safety, education, economy, and more in the ‘State of the Region 2025′ panel discussion at the West TN Regional Symposium Friday morning.
Memphis Mayor Paul Young opened the event with a speech highlighting how diversity is Memphis’ greatest gift. The city’s collaboration with neighboring cities has helped the region align and grow, he says.
He was followed by Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris. In his speech, Harris highlighted the necessary care Regional One hospital provides to the greater area, and the need to continue investing in health care for Tennesseans.
The panel was introduced by moderator Danielle Inez. The 5 panelists were: Harris, Millington superintendent Bo Griffin, Memphis police chief CJ Davis, Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy, and EDGE president Dr. Joann Massey.
