State of Preparedness issued in Kanawha County ahead of storms [Video]

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The Kanawha County Commission has issued a State of Preparedness due to incoming severe weather.

Strong thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected on Thursday afternoon and evening, with many still cleaning up from the April 2 storms.

The Kanawha County Commission is keeping the Emergency Operations Center on standby and ready to activate when necessary.

All First Responders in the County are being notified by Metro 911 of this severe weather event.

Kanawha County is working with the Governor’s Office and West Virginia Emergency Management to plan and prepare.

Officials say to be prepared for potential power outages.
