LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Holiday season is in full swing, and with Thanksgiving in the rear view, Christmas trees are now popping up in the center of Gateway Mall.
It’s all part of the People’s City Mission’s annual Starry Nights Fundraiser, featuring 13 designer decorated trees to auction and raffle off with all proceeds going towards feeding the homeless.
The event started 14 years ago based off an idea from a group of University of Nebraska-Lincoln students, and those with the mission said it’s their largest community event and fundraiser.
In the past, it has raised up to $80,000 in a single year.
