St. Helens School District staff voice concerns amid sex abuse scandal [Video]

ST. HELENS, Ore. (KPTV) – Amid an investigation into chilling sexual abuse allegations in the St. Helens School District, the school board is holding listening sessions.

The board wants to make sure everyone in the community has a chance to respond to district leadership. Thursday night, a room largely made up of staff took the chance to voice their concerns.

“I understand that people are angry and that trust has been broken between the community, between families, and the school system. We have significant work to do to repair relationships, to rebuild, and to repair the confidence the public should have in its public schools,” said Acting Superintendent Steve Webb.

Opening the session, Acting Superintendent Steve Webb asked attendees two questions: what do you want the district to know, and how can the district create a safer environment for children.
