Springfield car dealerships impacted after nationwide cyber attack [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Some 15,000 car dealerships across North America are scrambling after two attempted cyber attacks at CDK Global.

The dealership management system provider helps handle things like vehicle sales, service, and accounting data. Out of an abundance of caution, CDK says it’s temporarily taken its systems offline to make sure hackers can’t get in.

While the company investigates, car dealers don’t have access to information like customer history and vehicle service appointments.

Managers at Springfield Nissan and Kia say they can still help customers, but everything has to be filled out by hand.

“It’s all the dealers in town. You just have to be patient. We are going to do everything as quickly as we can, try to order the parts as quickly as we can, and try to service our customers the best way that we possibly can. But we are definitely tied to some limitations right now,” said John …
