Spokane County commissioners discuss future of SREC partnership with city [Video]

The city must create a new emergency dispatch system after SREC ended negotiations, but SREC board members say a partnership is not entirely off the table.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Spokane County commissioners met with members of Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) and Spokane County law enforcement on Tuesday to discuss how the City of Spokane will move forward without SREC’s services. 

SREC Member and Spokane County Fire District 3 Fire Chief Cody Rohrbach says despite stalled discussions between SREC and the city, he is hopeful that a resolution can be made. 

The City of Spokane Fire Department joined SREC in 2022 and discussions over the city’s other emergency agencies like the Spokane Police Department joining SREC were on the table until recently.
