SPCA of East Texas adds new executive director [Video]

She comes from the TVCC Foundation in Athens, where she served three years as executive director.

TYLER, Texas — The SPCA of East Texas has named its next executive director to lead the nonprofit animal welfare group.

Emily Heglund was welcomed as executive director on Monday, July 15. She will oversee the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the SPCA of East Texas. She will focus on the growth and development of the organization’s rescue and adoption program as well as its SNIPPET Clinic, which offers discounted wellness services to community pets, according to the announcement. 

“I first became involved with the SPCA as a foster home in 2020,” Heglund said. “I know firsthand the incredible impact this organization is having in the Tyler community, and I am deeply honored to join the team full time and work alongside such a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and supporters.”
