However, the VFD isn’t asking for money, instead, they are asking for community members for donations of time, supplies or equipment.

Sparta VFD said they recently acquired a new building and are looking to do renovations and improvements to both the fire station and administration space, which they say will include admin offices, sleeping quarters and operational facilities that the VFD does not have currently.

In order to bring their station “into the 21st century”, the VFD is asking for plumbers, electricians, contractors and more to donate their time or supplies to help make the updates.

According to the VFD, Sparta is a “low-funded, 100% Volunteer fire department whose mission is to provide superior fire protection services to the residents of Bell County.”
