LODI, Calif. — As the Southern California wildfires continue to burn, lessons learned by one elected leader in San Joaquin County are prompting city officials in Lodi to have a discussion.
Lodi Councilwoman Lisa Craig-Hensley never thought a trip to a women’s leadership conference in Southern California last week would leave her witnessing catastrophe.
“We’re looking out the window and you can kind of see it coming in, but it wasn’t until I was on the ground that I really took a photograph of what it looked like from the runway out across to Pacific Palisades,” Craig-Hensley said. “This absolutely is the most horrendous of any disaster I’ve seen.”
With destruction all around, Craig-Hensley couldn’t help but wonder “what if.”
