Southeast Texas veterans organizations hosting Stand Down in Port Arthur Friday [Video]

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Southeast Texas veterans organizations will come together tomorrow at the Bob Bowers Civic Center for a giant Stand Down event aimed at providing essential resources and networking opportunities for veterans and their families.

Since 2016, these Stand Downs have connected veterans with critical services that can sometimes be difficult to access.

Stand Down is the military terminology referring to the brief period of time a soldier leaves an active combat area to rest and regain strength.

Army veteran Joseph Dies, a Southeast Texas native who served for eight years, credits the event with helping him secure the benefits he earned through his service.
