NEW ORLEANS — Classes will be canceled for Sophie B. Wright High School on Thursday after social media posts threatened the safety of students and staff.
School officials posted the alert on Facebook, stating, “We are aware of the posts on social media involving our school community. Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring our students and staff’s safety and well-being.”
Classes will resume on Friday, Nov. 15. On Thursday, faculty and staff will have a scheduled professional development day.
School officials did not say who the threats came from.
