Some Coralville schools closed Monday because of water main break [Video]

CORALVILLE, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa City Community School District says four schools in Coralville will be closed Monday because of a water main break.

Kim Colvin with ICCSD, tells TV9 that crews with the City of Coralville are working to locate the water main break.

The schools that will be closed Monday are: Borlaug Elementary, Coralville Central Elementary, Kirkwood Elementary, and Northwest Middle School.

The closure only affects these four schools. Classes will continue as scheduled at all other schools in our district.

In an update, the Coralville Water Department says it responded to an issue in the water system south of Interstate 80 quickly before it became widespread. It says because there was no loss of pressure, Coralville Water and the Iowa DNR has determined the water remains safe for drinking, cooking, and other uses.
