Social Media Influencer arrested in Western North Carolina [Video]

A social media influencer has been arrested in Western North Carolina in connection to his Tik Tok videos in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. David James Phillips is charged with traveling in an unauthorized area.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office says Phillips used a road that had been cut by coal miners helping in the recovery. The road ran through private property and the owners contacted the Attorney General’s Office.

Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin refuted claims Phillips made in the videos that FEMA was blocking access to aid. Griffin went onto say the videos were “non-factual”.
