Soap and Netflix star reveals eating and exercise disorder battle | Soaps [Video]

Hollyoaks star Angus Castle-Doughty has opened up about his experiences with male muscle dysmorphia as he reveals his plan to raise awareness.

The actor, who captivated audiences as Eric Foster in the Channel 4 soap, struggled with extreme dieting and over-exercising upon landing a role in a major Netflix fantasy drama Shadow and Bone back in 2019, which he brands the biggest of his career.

He came to recognise that he had developed body and muscle dysmorphia and, after speaking to charities and experts, he resolved to use his platform to highlight the overlooked issue which affects countless men worldwide.

Enter Dis-Morph-ick.

‘I wrote [Dis-Morph-ick] based on my own experiences with muscle dysmorphia and disordered eating,’ said Angus.

‘My work as an actor and attempts to perfect my body fundamentally changed my relationship with food and exercise, and I continue to manage these challenges today.
