LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Snowballs flew through downtown Lincoln on Tuesday afternoon, launched from a giant slingshot to raise money for a good cause.
At Swanson Russell, a local advertising agency near 12th and P streets, clients, employees and friends of the company gathered in the parking lot to fire snowballs made of foam dodgeballs at a giant target.
Each successful hit raised money for a donation to Big Gumdrop Outdoors, a nonprofit that hosts after schools clubs, summer programs and other community events aimed at educating kids about nature and inspiring them to explore the outdoors.
Big Gumdrop Outdoors got its nonprofit status this year after starting out as a social media account in 2019. Founder Elijah Riley is graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this Saturday and plans to keep growing the brand.
“We’re really about trying to create the next generation of outdoor leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and ultimately stewards of our environment,” he said.
