STATESVILLE, N.C. – While much of the Charlotte area saw ice and snow melt throughout the day, communities to the north remain covered in snow and slush.
In Statesville, families made the most of the snowy day, even as rising temperatures began to melt the accumulation.
One such family was the Longs, who spent the day sledding and building snowmen.
“We are just enjoying being outside, getting sunshine, and playing in the snow,” said Jeni Long, a mother enjoying the rare weather event with her children. “This is the first time in like three years we’ve had snow, and the kids have been waiting every winter for it.”
Her children were thrilled, exclaiming their love for snow, with one cheerfully adding, “We get to eat it!” Meanwhile, their father, Jonathan Long, joked that the day outdoors had an added benefit: “It’s going good – letting the kids get their energy …
