FLUSHING, Mich. (WJRT) – Saturday volunteers, community partners, and local businesses came together to help the Flushing chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace in its Bunks Across America event.
40 Beds for children were built at Flushing Presbyterian Church.
The organization says an estimated two to three percent of kids in mid-Michigan don’t have beds.
They often sleep on couches, or in crowded beds with other family members, or even on the floor.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace will now distribute the beds to families across Genesee, Tuscola, and Shiawassee Counties to kids who don’t have proper sleeping space in their homes.
