Skowhegan’s Sweet Dreams Project continues to grow each holiday season | News [Video]

SKOWHEGAN — A teacher in Skowhegan is on a mission to ensure every kid in the community wakes up Christmas morning with a smile and a gift to open. 

Inside the Skowhegan Federated Church, you’ll find a different kind of workshop. 

“People support the program and they believe in us and what we do for kids and we just want to make kids happy on Christmas morning,” said Debora Tanner, Founder of the Sweet Dreams Project. 

Since 2016, long time Skowhegan teacher Debora Tanner, her friend Lisa Duguay and her daughter Kaley Brown have been distributing hundreds of gift bags to children in the community. 

After Tanner received the Somerset County Teacher of the Year award in 2015, she wanted to do something to give back to her community. That’s when the Sweet Dreams Project was born.
