Silvis is looking for a new Fire Chief.
The City of Silvis announced the resignation of Fire Chief John Winters, effective at the end of October, according to a news release from the city. He has accepted an opportunity to further his firefighting career as the new Fire Chief in a larger community in Southern Illinois.
During his time with the Silvis Fire Department, Chief Winters has been a key leader, serving the city and surrounding areas with dedication, professionalism and unwavering commitment. His leadership has left a lasting impact on the fire department and the community.
“We are deeply grateful for Chief Winters’ service,” said Matt Carter, Mayor of Silvis. “His contributions to our city’s safety and his efforts in enhancing the department’s capabilities will be remembered. He will truly be missed, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
