India’s Champions Trophy 2025 Squad: Shubman Gill has been named India’s vice-captain for the Champions Trophy 2025, beginning next month. He will understandably be opening the batting for the team in the marquee tournament with skipper Rohit Sharma.
Gill has succeeded Hardik Pandya in the vice-captain role. India announced the 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy during a press conference on Saturday in the presence of skipper Rohit and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
There were so many talks regarding the choice for the vice-captain role as there were options like Hardik, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Gill will be the vice-captain of the Indian team during the home ODI series against England as well.
