MARION, Iowa (KCRG) – With the colder months just around the corner, one Marion nonprofit is working to help kids in need get winter essentials.
On Tuesday, kids will line up for the nonprofit Marion Cares annual Trunk or Treat event. But it’s not just Halloween sweets these kids will be receiving.
“We have the children register for whatever their highest need is whether they need a coat, snow boots or snow pants. And then we have volunteers shop specifically for that child,” said Rachael Kumoto, Marion Cares Director of Community Engagement. “They pass out the candy and they pass out the winter necessities.”
Kumoto said the Trunk or Treat will focus on two Marion neighborhoods to help make sure kids in need stay warm this winter.
