GLENN COUNTY, Calif. – There is a unique affordable housing project reopening today in Glenn County. A historic 118-year-old building has been renovated.
The Shotover Inn was originally a hotel and was declared one of California’s points of historical interest in 1983. The $5.5 million renovation included renovating all 21 units inside and out. The renovations included a new roof and heating and air conditioning.
After the renovation, there are new stairwells and walkways. Inside, there are new cabinetry, appliances and flooring.
The Community Housing Improvement Program said it preserves a much-needed affordable housing option in this rural area, serving farm labor households.
Today’s ribbon-cutting ceremony is from 3 to 4 p.m. at 325 Broadway in Hamilton City.
The resident celebration will be at 6 p.m.
