Shot fired from trooper’s gun during arrest in Franklin County: state police [Video]

A single round was fired from a Pennsylvania State Police trooper’s pistol during an arrest Saturday evening in the Greencastle area, but no serious injuries were reported, according to police.

In a press release, state police did not immediately say why the shot was fired or if it was directed at the man being arrested, identified as Brett Daniel Crone, age 43.

According to state police, troopers were seeking Crone on a warrant from York County related to witness intimidation. Troopers had earlier issued Crone with a protection-from-abuse order, according to police.

Around 8:40 p.m., Crone was seen driving his vehicle in a residential area near Interstate 81 just north of the Maryland border, according to police. Crone failed to stop, but troopers “used legal intervention to terminate the pursuit” in the area of Camden Drive, state police wrote.

While taking Crone into custody, “a single round was discharged from a trooper’s pistol,” according to the police narrative.
