Shawnee students create solution to unique need for elementary neighbors [Video]

SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) – High school students in Shawnee put their heads together to come up with a unique need for their elementary school neighbors and created a product everyone, including the district, can be happy with.

The Shawnee Mission School District says the need for a specific storage solution in the main office of Rhein Benninghoven Elementary School led to an exciting collaboration with students from the Shawnee Mission Northwest High School Real World Learning class.

“We needed to solve a problem. That was the whole part of Real World Learning,” explained Steve Cortez, the woods instructor at SM Northwest.

The students decided to search for a “problem” across the parking lot to see how to better help their elementary neighbors.
