SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – In January, the Sioux Falls School District implemented a new visitor management system called Visitor Aware.
This comes after thorough research and successful field tests at several schools.
The District said the previous system was not user-friendly.
Leaders began the search for a replacement a year ago. The main goal includes maintaining a welcoming environment and ensuring safety.
Leaders said the new platform enhances security by requiring visitors to sign in using a kiosk station and be checked against offender lists.
“Ultimately, I think it’s for the safety of children. Being a mom as well, I feel comfortable that the people that are visiting the schools are safe to be around and sometimes the check-in process takes a little bit, but an inconvenience for a couple of moments is for the safety of your kid and I hope that every adult that comes to visit appreciates that,” said Rosa Parks Elementary clerical …
