NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Several Lowcountry organizations helped thousands of community members Saturday with groceries, toys and other necessities as they prepare for the week of Christmas.
Whether they were coordinating events, volunteering or receiving these gifts, all had a very similar thought: when you give, you get.
“I just feel like if you can help people who need it, it’s your civic duty to do it,” donor Mark Joye said. “There’s nothing that makes me and my wife and child happier than doing this.”
Joye made a $20,000 donation to the Neighbors Together organization, hoping it would make a difference in an area that was once the heart of North Charleston.
