SENECA, Mo. — Seneca residents and business owners help shape the future of flood mitigation in their community.
Earlier this year, an update to flood plain maps in Southwest Missouri took in new parts of the city of Seneca. Tuesday, representatives from the State Emergency Management Agency and an engineering firm met with city leaders and residents to discuss what can be done to mitigate flood risks.

For example, the Seneca School District, portions of which are now in the flood plain, took part in the meeting, offering insight on how floodwaters behave and learning what can be done in the future.
