Johannessen donated the land for the facility.

REDDING, Calif. – On Tuesday, our community celebrated Senator Maurice Johannessen and his efforts in getting the veterans’ medical clinic built in Redding.

We spoke with Johannessen after the dedication, and he said he is grateful to have been recognized, calling the clinic one of the crowned jewels in the region. He also donated the land for the facility.

Johannessen also authored legislation for building five new veterans homes in the state and the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo.

He was the Secretary of Veteran Affairs for the State of California and on the Governor’s Cabinet from 2002-2003.
