SEARSPORT — On Saturday, the Searsport community came together to celebrate autumn in the city streets.
The annual fling into fall event does more than acknowledge the change of seasons on the coast. Residents say it’s been a tradition for decades, keeping cabin fever at bay.
“You get wrapped up in the other holidays, and maybe don’t spend as much time in your community, but it’s a great opportunity to come out,” said Jeana Ganskop, Chair of the Searsport Events Committee.
“It’s an event that’s for the community, but it’s a great event to bring people into Searsport, support our local businesses and organizations, and have a good time while doing it,” Ganskop added.
Locals say it brings a surge of community involvement to the town before the holiday season kicks off.
