SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Tis the season to bring out the lights, the decorations, and the Christmas spirit. Some holiday-goers, like Jacob Ribac, prefer their holiday joy to be mobile.
“Making people smile, laugh and just getting into the Christmas spirit. That’s why I do it,” Ribac said.
It’s become a growing trend on social media in recent years. More people are decorating their cars with Christmas lights, but those lights could land you on the naughty list.
“I was a little scared for like getting pulled over and stuff like that. I did get flashed at from a couple of cops already,” Ribac said.
While decorating your car can be fun, the Scottsdale Police Department says it is against the law.
“Christmas lights and multi-colored lights on your vehicle that can be seen all around it, per-law as of right now, is illegal,” said Scottsdale Ofc. Aaron Bolin.
