Schumer Wants ‘No Red Tape’ For Rome Tornado Recovery | News [Video]

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said he’s pushing for “no red tape” when local leaders in Rome seek federal funds, as the city continues to recover from a devastating tornado.

Speaking at a press conference at SUNY ESF on Monday, Schumer specifically mentioned conversations he had with two federal agenciesthe Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Small Business Administration (SBA)about fast tracking the process to help the people of Rome.

Schumer also said he spoke to Governor Kathy Hochul and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, whom the senator called a friend, about the ongoing recovery efforts.

Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan praised the senator’s efforts in a written statement released by Schumer’s office.
