ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Three northwest suburban school districts have approved a property tax break plan for the Chicago Bears.
High School District 214, Township High School District 211 and Community Consolidated School District 15 have approved an agreement with the Bears over property taxes in Arlington Heights.
The Bears have proposed a mixed-use residential and entertainment development on the site of the old Arlington Racecourse.
The team had talked about putting a new stadium on the site but now is focusing on a new stadium in the city.
Under the deal, which still needs approval from the Cook County Assessor’s Office, the Chicago Bears property taxes would go from nearly $9 million this year to $3.5 million a year for the next three years.
