School district cancels field trips because of low test scores [Video]

FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. (Gray News) – A school district in Tennessee is canceling student field trips because of low test scores.

According to a report from WREG, a board member with Fayette County Schools made the announcement on social media, and parents are just now finding out.

“Due to low test scores, Dr. Hamlett has cancelled all field trips,” the social media post reads, according to WREG. “Teachers have been instructed to concentrate on math and reading.”

Parents in the district said the change is unfair, especially since field trips are meant to be educational.

As of Monday afternoon, Fayette County Schools have not made a public statement about the change.

Fayette County is just east of Memphis.
