The boy was not harmed in the Wednesday incident. A 33-year-old man from San Antonio was arrested.
SAN ANTONIO — The Schertz Police Department says a 33-year-old man is in custody after allegedly trying to kidnap a 10-year-old boy Wednesday evening, according to a press release.
On Wednesday, Schertz Police responded to “a report of a suspicious person in a white van” in a south-side park near where the boy lives. The caller reported that a man had “attempted to lure a 10-year-old boy into the van.”
Authorities say the child was able to get away and ran home to tell his parents. He wasn’t harmed in the incident.
Neighbors who follow social media accounts for the area said word spread rapidly about posts that claimed the driver of the van pulled up next to the park and told the boy to get in or he would be shot.
