RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Scenic Volunteer Fire Department welcomed the community to the ribbon cutting of their new fire hall on Saturday.
The department, made up of 24 firemen, houses their trucks mainly at ranches during the summer months for response times, but the new fire hall will provide a place for the vehicles in the wintertime.
Their original building was built in 1973 and didn’t have the space the department needed. Pennington County provided $500,000 to put toward a new building, with that money, and money raised from fundraisers, they could make enough to build the fire hall and community room.
In addition to the ribbon cutting, the department raised money for other needs at the hall.
