Scarborough, Maine Market Basket set to open in fall 2026 [Video]

SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Market Basket is set to open a fourth Maine location in fall of 2026.

The Downs, a mixed-use development at the former Scarborough Downs location in Scarborough, has announced that Market Basket will be the first retailer at the heart of its town center project.

The developers’ strategy for the town center is to balance national and local businesses using a mix of grocers, everyday service providers, junior retailers, restaurants, and small retailers, according to a press release.

Market Basket currently operates 90 locations across New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Maine. Other Maine stores are in Westbrook, Biddeford, and Topsham, with the Topsham location opening most recently in June.
