Save Our Streets Brings Message of ‘Unity in the Community’ to Utica Streets | News [Video]

UTICA, N.Y. — Save Our Streets brought their message of “Unity in the Community” to the Kennedy Plaza Apartments on Saturday.

It was the group’s final pop-up outreach event of the year.

Residents of the apartments were treated to music, hamburgers and hotdogs. These pop-up events give the Save Our Streets team a chance to get out in the community and raise awareness about gun violence.

“These events have been so successful that any time we go someplace and do a pop-up is when we hear about the violence in that area and once we go there and let them know we’re here to support you, we bring resources for you, and we break bread with the kids and bring everyone together, then we don’t hear about violence for some time after,” Save Our Streets Director Roosevelt Patterson said.

He added that they’re already making plans for more pop-up events next year.
