SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield’s Salvation Army Angel Shop opened on Tuesday.
The program helps families in the Ozarks provide gifts for their children. If you are registered as a qualified parent or guardian, you can take two to three toys per child.
The Salvation Army reported that 350 families are participating in the program.
“To see the mothers’ faces when they think their kids are going to have a Christmas, and these mothers are just excited,” said volunteer Barbara Provencher. “Some of them even cry. They’re so happy. So it’s it’s immeasurable for the community.”
As a reminder, this event is only open to families who have registered and met the qualifications for the Angel Tree program. They can go to the Salvation Army located on Chestnut Expressway from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday to pick up their toys.
