CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Salvation Army still needs the community’s help to give back to those in need.
The Salvation Army supports families across the Lowcountry year-round, but they have some special holiday campaigns and could use more volunteers to help them spread holiday cheer.
Leaders with the organization say that they need help now more than ever as inflation impacts many families.
The organization is currently seeking more volunteers for their “Red Kettle Campaign” from now until Christmas Eve.
These volunteer bell ringers play a key role in gathering the funding required for the organization to support those families who are in need.
During the holiday season, they are stationed outside of local stores and organizations to collect donations that go toward supporting those struggling during the holidays and throughout the year.
This year, the Salvation Army of Charleston has set a goal to raise $167,000 toward this campaign.
